Caring for Kids Australia is a Queensland based charitable organisation run by volunteers with the objective of providing tangible assistance and support to those less fortunate, free of charge.
Primarily focused at children from Birth to 2 years of age that are unable to remain with their biological families due to substantiated or risk of harm and are living in out-of-home care via the Foster Care system or Residential Care settings, our aim is to supply travel boxes of personal items and keepsakes to children as they enter the care of Child Safety, which can accompany them through to adulthood regardless of their changes in accommodation.
Caring for Kids seeks to enrich the lives of children who are not yet able to advocate for themselves, have experienced significant trauma, are frequently moved from house to house due to disruption of care placements, and as such seldom retain any personal belongings or items of comfort.
These intentions are achieved by applying the 'Pay it Forward' principle, which adopts the concept of an Individual demonstrating appreciation for the support they have received or experienced by passing on support and assistance to others via acts of kindness. By donating unused or pre-loved items you provide these children the emotional support that comes from developing a sense of self via precious belongings that can become part of their personal "Home away from home".
Thanks to the thoughtfulness and generosity received from the community, this assistance is now also able to extend to Parents experiencing difficulty meeting the day to day needs of the children in their care.
